The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC) is a statewide membership-based coalition of immigrant, labor, interfaith, youth, and ally organizations founded in 2002 to build a unified statewide voice to improve the lives of immigrants and refugees in Colorado and the United States. CIRC is a 501(c)(3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code and achieves its mission through non-partisan civic engagement, public education, and advocacy to win fair, humane, and workable public policies.
The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition is seeking a Communications Coordinator to start in the spring of 2022. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Communications Manager and work closely with CIRC’s other departments.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Organizer and Member Support
● Work with the Organizing, Campaigns, Legal Services, Development, and Hotline departments to align effective, compelling communications for organizing and fundraising needs.
● Develop education/advocacy outreach materials to communicate campaign, partner, and coalition info to members, supporters, and donors.
● Draft regular updates to members.
● Support legislative campaigns, deportation resistance cases, and other organizing efforts by drafting language, creating petitions, promoting campaigns over email and social media, etc.
Drafting and Pitching to Media
● Collaborate with the development team to facilitate the collection and use of stories from people impacted by CIRC’s work (in media and fundraising contexts) in an ethical, empowering way
● Manage rapid media response, including drafting press releases, talking points, and media messaging and coordinating media interviews as needed
● Assist in planning, logistics, and preparation of other CIRC members for press conferences.
● Coordinate website content, e-blasts, and information campaigns. Manage CIRC’s social
media presence, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
● Utilize strong design skills to create flyers, graphics, images, videos, etc to support our communications infrastructure
● Offer miscellaneous event support, which may include photography, live streaming, etc for campaign events, CIRC’s annual assembly, marches and actions, and other events

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong digital design and photography skills and demonstrated past design experience.
- Demonstrable skill as a writer.
- Knowledge of AP style, and previous experience with media communications, especially drafting press releases, media advisories, and talking points is a plus.
- Proactive, highly organized, and attentive to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Solid problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong technology skills. Previous experience with WordPress, Canva, or Action Network is a plus.
- Strong commitment to community justice and anti-oppression.
- Proficiency in a second language is a plus.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous communications experience

Compensation, Benefits & Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, permanent, unionized position compensated at $47,430 a year. The Communications Coordinator will report to the Communications Manager. The Communications Coordinator will have a three-month probationary period.
a) Cell Phone – CIRC will pay a $75 monthly stipend to support your use of your cell phone, to be included in your paycheck.
b) Health Insurance – The Communications Coordinator as well as two dependents under the age of 18 are eligible to receive 100% employer-sponsored health, vision, and dental insurance beginning the first day of employment.
c) Generous PTO Policy: All full-time CIRC staff start with two weeks off of paid time off this increases annually.
d) Professional Development: $1,000 in professional development funds annually.
e) Annual Cost of Living Adjustment: This position will receive an annual $1,000 salary cost of living increase, in addition to other changes per the union contract.
f) Reimbursements will be made for expenditures during the normal course of your work at the following levels:
i) Mileage – 65 cents per mile.
ii) Food, lodging, supplies, or miscellaneous expenses will be reimbursed based on approval of submitted forms and receipts.
